Smart Tips to Rejuvenate Your Facial Skin

Overview
Have you been struggling to understand proper skin care? Don’t worry, it can be quite confusing, most especially when you see a $2 and $400 beauty bottle side-by-side, which one do you cash on?

Know Your Skin Type

When it comes to your skin, it’s not what you pat on your skin that matters first, it’s knowing what your skin type is. Skin is normally classified into four: normal, dry, oily, combination, and sensitive skin.

Normal skin type has the best balance of oil. Dry skin types have dull and rough complexions. Oily skin types often have regular bouts with acne, whiteheads and blackheads. Combination skin types refer to patches of skin that are dry while the remaining are oily, usually the t-zone area. Those with sensitive skin types need to be very careful what they put on their skin, and make sure these are non-comedogenic (or, hypoallergenic).

It matters to know what your skin type is because many beauty lines come with different formulations classified according to skin type, and it pays for you to pay attention to these details. If the product does not come with varying formulations, drop it. Chances are, research was limited and it will do little to help you solve your skin issues.

Basic daily skin care

Keep your daily skin care routine simple. As much as possible, you don’t want too many products on your skin. Let your skin breathe. Follow this five-step skin care routine to love your skin everyday:

Step 1,2,3 - Cleanse-Tone-Moisturize: Twice daily, day and night, use a gentle facial wash and water to clean your skin. If you have makeup on, wipe away make up with moisturizer and a piece of cotton before washing. Follow up with an organic toner to keep pores tiny, help even out complexion, and deep cleanse to rid skin of excess oil, dirt, and dust. End with a moisturizer with differing formulations for day and night.

Step 4 - Exfoliate: Except for sensitive skin types, it’s perfectly safe to mildly exfoliate once daily, manually or using exfoliants. For night time facial wash, choose products that contain alphahydroxy acids (AHA) which gently lift dead and damaged skin. Use stronger exfoliants once weekly or once every two weeks if you have sensitive skin.

Step 5 - Wear Your Sunscreen: Religiously apply sunscreen in the morning, and re-apply throughout the day. 90 per cent of wrinkles and other signs of skin aging are caused by sun damage.
Natural Ways to Rejuvenate Skin

Worry not if you have limited budget to complete your skin care must-haves. Sometimes, the best skin solutions are sitting in your kitchen. Here are some natural ways to rejuvenate your skin:

Avocado-Honey Moisturizer: Blend three tablespoons of cream, avocado, and a teaspoon of honey. Apply on skin and let it sit for at least 15 minutes.

Wrinkle-Fighting Salad: Feast on this healthy plate for breakfast: strawberries, kiwi, pomegranate seeds, orange juice, and a handful of chopped walnuts. Give it a toss and your skin will love this mixture.
Acne Spot Treatment: Make a teaspoon of this mixture to dab on your acne: Brewer’s yeast, lemon juice, and water.

Basil Toner: If you have acne prone skin, take three tablespoons of dried basil, drop it in a cup of boiling water. Let it dry. Strain the leaves and use the liquid as toner.

Lemon-Agave Age Spot Fighter: Combine a half cup of cooked rice, and a tablespoon each of agave nectar and lemon juice. The resulting mixture is a great lightening scrub for your aging hands.

Almond-Sugar Facial Scrub: Spoil your skin with this natural scrub that combines cream, white and brown sugar, almonds, and olive oil.

Coconut Deep Conditioner: Keep hair shiny and full with a combination of a cup of mayonnaise, and a teaspoon each of coconut oil and coconut extract.

Java Lip Exfoliator: Keep lips kissable with this mixture: a teaspoon each of moisturizing lotion, coffee grounds, and kosher salt.

Another easy, cheap way to keep wrinkles off is by giving yourself a facial massage. Chew a sugar-free gum once daily to get a facial exercise that keep facial muscles firm.

Conclusion
The best skin care starts with a basic understanding of what your skin is made of so you can make up for what it lacks. The simplest skin care routines are the ones that give you the best results, and now you know, the best skin foods don’t have to be the most expensive.
